Lewes Beekeeping Club Demonstration at 10am

At 10 am, the Market celebrates Pollinator Week with a demo by the Lewes Beekeeping Club. This is a great demonstration for kids and adults alike! Learn about the life cycle of the bee, how beekeepers care for bees and their hives, and how honey is harvested. Local honey can be tasted at Stag Run Farm’s tent located right next to the demo area.
Judith S. Loeber and Charlotte Hughes to Paint Plein Air at Market
In celebration of the Historic Lewes Farmers Market’s 20th Anniversary season, a rotating group of plein air artists will be painting live at the Market throughout the summer. Each artist will capture the vibrant energy, community spirit, and fresh abundance of the Market in real time. Their completed paintings will be featured in a special Fall fundraiser, with proceeds benefitting HLFM’s Farm to Community program. On June 21st the HLFM welcomes Judith S. Loeber and Charlotte Hughes to the Market.
Charlotte Hughes is a a retired educator with a lifelong appreciation for the arts and turned her focus to watercolor after moving to Lewes in 2000. Inspired by years of museum visits and local art collecting, she began formal training in watercolor and has since exhibited in Delaware Watercolor Society shows and at Delaware Tech. Her work, often centered on nature, is recognized for its soft, translucent qualities and evolving style. Charlotte is a Signature Artist and the current Secretary of the Delaware Watercolor Society.
Judith S. Loeber is a painter, educator, and designer based in Millsboro, Delaware. With a BFA from the University of Delaware and an M.Ed. in Gifted and Talented Education, she spent over two decades as Visual and Digital Arts Department Chair at Sussex Central High School, shaping curriculum and leading arts initiatives. A frequent participant and award-winner in regional plein air events, Judith also presents workshops, completes commissions, and exhibits across the Mid-Atlantic. In addition to her studio and plein air work, she continues to contribute to the arts community as a mentor, speaker, and advocate for arts education.
