Lewes Junction Railroad & Bridge Association (LJRBA) celebrating Lewes 250 on New Year’s Day

Lewes Junction Railroad & Bridge Association (LJRBA) will join in celebrating Lewes 250 on January 1, 2026 in a special way when neighbors, churches and others will literally ring in the year of our nation’s 250th birthday at 10:00 a.m. The organization will place the actual bell belonging to their 1913 Pennsylvania Railroad steam engine #60 on the track at Lewes Junction, next to Lewes Public Library.  Adults can help support the on-going work to cosmetically restore the steam locomotive by purchasing the unique opportunity to ring it’s historic bell for $5.00.  Children may ring the bell for free.

Festivities at Lewes Junction will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and include free hot beverages and cookies as well as tours of the red caboose decorated for the holidays.
The mission of Lewes Junction Railroad & Bridge Association is to preserve, display and interpret the historical significance of the railroad to Lewes and Eastern Sussex County, Delaware.  For further information and to make donations, visit www.lewesjunctionrr.org.
