Putting the Fun in Fundraising at a Barn Dance:

How SDTR Kicks Up its Heels in Service to Sussex County

(Milton, DE September 8, 2026) Since 1988, Southern Delaware Therapeutic Riding (SDTR) has provided equine-assisted services that enrich the lives of local children and adults with cognitive and physical disabilities. Each fall, the organization brings Sussex County together for one of its most beloved traditions.

For the past nine years, SDTR has transformed its Milton riding arena into a lively dance floor for the annual Barn Dance. The event sells out year after year, and this October marks a milestone celebration.

This year’s festivities will feature line dancing to live music by the Mason Dixon Band, a mouth-watering BBQ dinner, the  popular bourbon tasting station and an exciting live auction. The Barn Dance blends down‑home fun with meaningful impact, creating an unforgettable night in support of SDTR’s mission.

Tickets go on sale September 25th, so mark your calendar for the SDTR 10th Annual Barn Dance on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The Barn Dance is one of SDTR’s major fundraising events, helping sustain the equine‑assisted services delivered by therapy horses, certified therapeutic riding instructors and dedicated volunteers. “The Barn Dance fundraiser is critical in helping provide financial support for our therapeutic riding program and scholarships for those who would otherwise be unable to benefit from our unique services,” said Jo Allegro‑Smith, Executive Director. “We rely on sponsorships, donations, and community support of this cornerstone event that supports SDTR’s mission.”

Tickets will be available at sdtrhr.com beginning September 25. Join us for a night of dancing, great food and community spirit while supporting SDTR’s life‑changing programs.
