The Beacon Inn first opened in 1989 under the name The Beacon Motel in the same place it stands today. It has been owned and operated by the same family since opening and the reins have been passed to the latest generation in 2007 with Maggie, the proprietor’s daughter, taking over as manager. We’re located in the historic town of Lewes, which is known as the first town in the first state, having been settled by the Dutch in 1631. Lewes Beach was known for its array of fish factories from the late 19th century all the way to the mid-20th century. Fish from this region went all across the US, and in 1953 it was the biggest seafood port in the country. We bring a taste of the coastal, historical town into our Inn, but we also have a range of fantastic, guest-friendly features to help make those perfect vacation memories: Swimming Pool, Rooftop Sundeck, Hospitality Room, Give & Take Library, and a Spacious Lobby (with ample seating).
