Clothing Our Kids
The mission of Clothing Our Kids is to improve the lives of at-risk Head Start through High School students by providing them with new school clothing free of charge. Not having essential clothing has a direct negative impact on their self-esteem, attendance and ability to learn, and can lead to bullying. It is COK’s goal to assist these youngsters with an equal start in their education and to help them become successful students. Each request for clothing assistance comes to Clothing Our Kids through school nurses, counselors, or social workers. Typically, the need is acute, therefore, in order to respond in a timely manner COK must plan ahead and have clothing of various sizes and gender ready for distribution. Typically, the need is greatest at the beginning of the school year and as the seasons change.
If school children are in need of clothing, they can receive them free of charge. A parent or guardian simply needs to contact the school nurse or counsellor.
