21st annual “Small Jewels” exhibition returns in time for the gift-giving season!

The 21st edition of Peninsula Gallery’s holiday exhibition, “Small Jewels,” returns to Lewes, starting Thanksgiving weekend. Give the gift of beauty and serenity this year with an original work of art! Clients are invited to shop for the holiday season and fall in love with artwork that costs $500 or less. Purchased pieces can go from the gallery walls to under your tree on the same day, ensuring you have your special present in time for the gift exchange!
An artist reception will be held on Saturday, November 30, from 5 to 6:30 pm. The reception is free and open to everyone. Bring your guests, friends, and family to enjoy the wonders of all these miniature paintings while sipping on a complimentary glass of wine. Attendees will have the opportunity to mingle with some of the participating artists during the evening.
The artists featured in this year’s Small Jewels have been juried by Peninsula’s curatorial team, resulting in a coherent collection of nearly 100 original works from 19 unique artists. The lineup includes five pieces of art from local, regional, and national artists. The show welcomes back Al Barker, Angi Beauheim, Kristin Blanck, Anne Buck, Carol Fastuca, Doris Ingram, Barbara Llyod, Nancy McIntyre, Nina Mickelsen, Joe Milligan, Damon Pla, Steve Rogers, John Schisler, Nick Serratore, and Nancy Richards West. New to the show this year are John Aquilino, Blanche Guernsey, Cindy Kaufman, and Sherri Trial.
This year’s exhibition comprises of works done in the traditional mediums of oil, acrylic, pastel, and watercolor. The works encompass a wide variety of subject matters from animals and landscapes to still lives and contemporary mixed media. Tony Boyd-Heron, gallery co-owner, says, “I really look forward to Small Jewels because, until all the pieces arrive, you never quite know what you will find in the treasure chest!”
