If you haven’t heard about Delaware 250 yet, Delaware 250 commemorates the 250th anniversary of American independence and celebrates Delaware’s role as the First State. This milestone provides an opportunity to reflect on Delaware’s unique history — a story that began long before 1776 and continues today. From the earliest inhabitants of this land, through the American Revolution and the ratification of the United States Constitution, to the present day, the people of Delaware have helped shape our nation for two and a half centuries. While rooted in the Revolutionary era, this commemoration honors the many histories, communities, and contributions that define our State and inspire its future. Through events, education, partnerships, and community engagement, Delaware 250 highlights our shared history while inspiring the future.
