“Delaware Bay During the American Revolution” Lecture & Genealogy Assistance
May 16 -10:00 AM - 11:30 AM

History enthusiasts and local residents are invited to a special presentation, “Delaware Bay During the American Revolution,” on Friday, May 16 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lewes Public Library.
The featured speaker, William Manthorpe, is a Lewes resident, Trustee of Historic Lewes, and a retired Naval Officer and Senior Government Civilian Executive. Following his distinguished military and federal service career, Mr. Manthorpe taught graduate-level courses at Johns Hopkins University and several military colleges in the Washington, D.C. area. Since relocating full-time to the Cape Region in 1998, he has dedicated his time to researching, writing, and speaking about Delaware’s rich naval heritage.
Mr. Manthorpe’s presentation will explore the strategic importance and historical impact of the Delaware Bay during the American Revolution, offering attendees a deeper understanding of the region’s role in shaping the nation’s history.
Following the lecture, volunteer genealogists from the Daughters of the American Revolution will be available in the library’s computer room to provide one-on-one guidance and support for attendees interested in tracing their family history.
Both the lecture and genealogy session will be held at the Lewes Public Library. Seating is limited, and advance registration is required for both portions of the event.
