Due to the impending inclement weather, the Historic Lewes Farmers Market will move to the Lewes Elementary Schoola basket filled with green corn sitting on top of a table parking lot at 820 Savannah Road this Saturday, June 27th. Come shop for the best fresh locally-grown food that the Delmarva has to offer!

Parking is available in the school’s bus loop parking lot off of Sussex Drive–with coned off accessible parking spaces in the section closest to the Market. Customers may also use the Fred Thomas Middle School parking lot. The HLFM encourages customers that are able to bike or walk, the entrance for walkers and bikers is off Savannah Road. Beebe Hospital also generously allows Market customers to park in its outside parking lot, and there is parking available at George H.P. Smith Park, a short walk on the path to Lewes Elementary School.

a pile of blueberries and peaches sitting next to each other At the Market this Saturday, 37 local farmers and producers will bring sweet corn, tomatoes, peaches, blueberries, cucumbers, zucchini, squashes, eggplant, potatoes, spinach, arugula, carrots, kale, radishes, Swiss chard, collard greens, scallions, beets, turnips, stir-fry mixes, hydroponic and field lettuces, arugula, herbs, microgreens, eggs, coffee, cold-pressed juices, kombucha, beef, pork, chicken, lamb, oysters, crab, mushrooms, freeze-dried local fruits and veggies, cut-flowers, hanging flower baskets, veggie and herb plants, fresh breads and pastries, jams, honey, and much more!

At 10am, Chef Ted Deptula, Culinary Director of Crooked Hammock Brewery, will return to the Demo Tent, weathera man standing in the grass with his arms crossed permitting. Chef Ted will demonstrate and prepare roasted peach salsa and So-Cal street corn using fresh seasonal ingredients from farmers around the Market. He will also be serving an herbal lemon agua fresca for the Market Demo attendees. A special thanks to the Crooked Hammock Brewery for sponsoring the HLFM Wednesday Market, which is open Wednesdays 8 – 11:30 am, where customers can continue to find local fruits veggies, meats, eggs, honey, baked goods, and flowers each week.

The HLFM is unique in that it is producer-only—customers connect directly with the farmer who grew the produce and raised the animals to buy their local fruit, veggies, eggs, and meats. This Market is where the farmers are—the most farmers in any farmers market in the Delmarva!

Please note that dogs and other pets (except for service animals) are not permitted inside the Market. This is to ensure the safety of customers, vendors, and volunteers.

Don’t miss all of the chances to win at the HLFM Summer Raffle this Market season! Visitors will have the full Raffle season to purchase tickets with a final drawing on September 5th to win a Lewes Oyster House 3-Course Chef’s Tasting with Wine Pairing for 6-8 at the LOH Chef’s Table. Quilt-maker extraordinaire Laurie Sieminski has gifted a beautiful veggie-themed quilt for this season’s Market Raffle. Customers have even more chances to win restaurant gift cards and tickets for local experiences and activities through monthly and daily drawings. Stop by the HLFM Raffle Tent for all of the prize and drawing information. Tickets are $5 each or 6 tickets for $25. All proceeds go to the HLFM farmer support and food access programs.

Weather permitting, the very popular Children’s Storytime at the Market continues at 10am under the yellow tent each Saturday Market. Volunteers read books about farming, gardening, and healthy eating. All children and their adults are welcome.

The Market accepts SNAP, WIC, and SFMNP benefits, and continues to match SNAP up to $20 per market, per customer. Please go to the SNAP tent to process SNAP/EBT.

The HLFM continues its Food Pantry Purchase Program. HLFM customers who want to help feed the local community every Saturday may purchase local produce, meat, and other food directly from growers at the Market to donate to this program, or through donations at the HLFM Information Tent. At the end of the Market, the produce and other foods are gathered and given to food pantries including Epworth and Casa San Francisco. The HLFM thanks its customers for their generosity.
