George H.P. Smith Park
8 am – 12 pm
Heirloom Demos at 10 am
The Historic Lewes Farmers Market (HLFM) celebrates the milestone opening of its 20th Market Season on Saturday, May 3 at George H.P. Smith Park at the corner of Dupont and Johnson Avenues. Customers can join in the celebration to ring in the new season at 8 am. At the Market, 36 local farmers and producers bring the best fresh veggies, fruit, eggs, breads and pastries, jams, honey, cold-pressed juices, kombucha, coffee, beef, pork, chicken, lamb, seafood, mushrooms, cut-flowers, plants, and much more.
At 10 am, the Heirloom restaurant team will kick off the 20th season with a Chef Demonstration highlighting the fresh in-season offerings found around the Market. Heirloom is a true farm-to-table restaurant. For years, owner Meghan Lee has worked with local small farmers to bring the best seasonal ingredients to her customers.
The Summer Saturday Market welcomes more new vendors this season! Customers will be excited to see eggs at Anya’s Homestead, where first-generation farmer Anya Phillips raises chickens and grows a vibrant mix of heirloom varieties of herbs, fruits, and vegetables that are both flavorful and sustainable. Caribe Locavore Farm boasts a wide variety of culturally significant crops grown using regenerative practices. From callaloo and okra to peppers, tomatoes, and herbs, farmer Taieshia Hyacinth’s harvests reflect a deep connection to American, Caribbean, African, and Latin culinary traditions. Steven Raleigh of Story Hill Farm will be bringing their heritage pork, grass-fed beef, farm eggs, and signature Henlopen Sea Salt—harvested on the farm using Atlantic seawater—to Market each Saturday.
Welcoming new and familiar faces, customers can continue to find delicious fresh cold-pressed juices from The Juice Club–formerly Jun & Juice–and visit Wednesday Market favorites Cosmic Dog Farm with their nutrient-dense veggie offerings and Dream Catcher Homestead offering pasture-raised meats and farm eggs, both now at the Saturday Market too.
The HLFM is unique in that it is producer-only—customers connect directly with the farmer who grew the produce and raised the animals to buy their local fruit, veggies, eggs, and meats. This Market is where the farmers are—the most farmers in any farmers market in the Delmarva!
Please note that dogs and other pets (except for service animals) are not permitted inside the Market. This is to ensure the safety of customers, vendors, and volunteers. Customers may still walk their dogs around the other paths and parts of George H.P. Smith Park but may not bring them inside the Market area.
We encourage customers that are able to bike or walk to the Market. The circle in front of the Fred Thomas Building at the foot of Dupont will be open for accessible drop-off and pick-up, with some spots available for accessible parking only. With the new sidewalks to George H.P. Smith Park, the best place customers can park is at the main parking lot at the Lewes Elementary School (where the Market moves if it rains) at 820 Savannah Road, with just a short walk down the path to Market. Beebe Hospital also generously allows Market customers to park in its outside parking lot.
The HLFM website www.historiclewesfarmersmarket.org lists all vendors, their contact information, and whether or not they take pre-orders. For pre-orders, the customer may pick up at the vendor tent in the Market.
The Market’s weekly newsletter lists what each vendor is bringing to Market, demos and more. To receive the newsletter customers should email info@historiclewesfarmersmarket.org and ask to be added to the list.
The Market accepts SNAP, WIC, and SFMNP benefits, and continues to match SNAP up to $20 per market, per customer. Please go to the SNAP tent to process SNAP/EBT.
The HLFM continues its Food Pantry Purchase Program. HLFM customers who want to help feed the local community may purchase local produce, meats, and other food from growers at the Market to donate to this program every Saturday. At the end of the Market, the produce and other foods are gathered and given to food pantries including Epworth and Casa San Francisco. The HLFM thanks its customers for their generosity.
The HLFM thanks The Lee Ann Wilkinson Group for their continued support of the Market, especially for this special season, as 2025 HLFM Market Champion.
Just one month until Opening Day of the HLFM Wednesday Market at Crooked Hammock Brewery. Starting June 4th, customers will find all of their Wednesday Market favorites and more as the number of vendors there have doubled–selling produce, meats, eggs, baked goods, and flowers.
