Historic Lewes Farmers Market Opens for its 21st Market Season
Saturday, May 2, 2026
George H.P. Smith Park
8 am – 12 pm
Heirloom Demos at 10 am
The Historic Lewes Farmers Market (HLFM), recently chosen 8th Best Farmers Market in America, celebrates the milestone opening of its 21st Market Season on Saturday, May 2 at George H.P. Smith Park at the corner of Dupont and Johnson Avenues. Customers can join in the celebration to ring in the new season at 8 am. At the Market, 37 local farmers and producers bring the best fresh veggies, fruit, eggs, breads and pastries, jams, honey, cold-pressed juices, kombucha, coffee, beef, pork, chicken, lamb, seafood, mushrooms, cut-flowers, plants, and much more.
At 10 am, the Heirloom restaurant team will kick off the 2026 Market Season with a Chef Demonstration highlighting the fresh in-season offerings found around the Market. Heirloom is a true farm-to-table restaurant. For years, owner Meghan Lee has worked with local small farmers to bring the best seasonal ingredients to her customers.
The Summer Saturday Market welcomes more new vendors this season! Customers will be excited to see beautiful lettuces at Bittersweet Hydroponic Farm in Millsboro DE, where farmers Rob Conner and Bill Jordan grow high-quality greens with strong nutrient content and reliable flavor. G’s DElights, founded by mother-daughter team Raelynn and Michelle Grogan here in Lewes, work closely with regional farmers to transform locally grown products into vibrant freeze-dried snacks. Dr. Lorna Graham of Grahams Farm and Produce will travel all the way from Princess Anne, Maryland to bring her fresh, seasonal vegetables like kale, mustard greens, pak choi, turnips, and more to Market each week. Hudson Blooms owners Lisa and JJ Hudson focus on soil health while growing both flowers and vegetables for the Market. In addition to their blooms and veggies, they will offer fresh, pasture-raised eggs from their happy, healthy hens at the Market too.
Welcoming a familiar face, customers can visit Carol Cross, a vendor at our Wednesday Market and Fall Market last season, as Cross Farms brings fresh veggie offerings and farm eggs to the Saturday Market too.

The HLFM is unique in that it is producer-only—customers connect directly with the farmer who grew the produce and raised the animals to buy their local fruit, veggies, eggs, and meats. This Market is where the farmers are—the most farmers in any farmers market in the Delmarva!
In case of inclement weather, the Market moves to the Lewes Elementary School parking lot, 820 Savannah Road.
The Historic Lewes Farmers Market is proud to represent the city of Lewes and the state of Delaware as one of the Best Farmers Markets in America! The HLFM was voted number 8 out of more than 8,600 markets in the country.
Please note that dogs and other pets (except for service animals) are not permitted inside the Market. This is to ensure the safety of customers, vendors, and volunteers. Customers may still walk their dogs around the other paths and parts of George H.P. Smith Park but may not bring them inside the Market area.
The HLFM encourages customers that are able to bike or walk to the Market. The circle in front of the Fred Thomas Building at the foot of Dupont will be open for accessible drop-off and pick-up, with some spots available for accessible parking only. The best place customers can park is at the main parking lot at the Lewes Elementary School (where the Market moves if it rains) at 820 Savannah Road, with just a short walk on the sidewalk path to the Market at George H.P. Smith Park. Beebe Hospital also generously allows Market customers to park in its outside parking lot.
The Market’s weekly newsletter lists what each vendor is bringing to Market, demos and more. To receive the newsletter customers should email info@historiclewesfarmersmarket.org and ask to be added to the list.
The Market accepts SNAP, WIC, and SFMNP benefits, and continues to match SNAP up to $20 per market, per customer. Please go to the SNAP tent to process SNAP/EBT.
The HLFM continues its Food Pantry Purchase Program. HLFM customers who want to help feed the local community every Saturday may purchase local produce, meat, and other food directly from growers at the Market to donate to this program, or through donations at the HLFM Information tent. At the end of the Market, the produce and other foods are gathered and given to food pantries including Epworth and Casa San Francisco. The HLFM thanks its customers for their generosity.
The HLFM thanks The Lee Ann Wilkinson Group, 2026 HLFM Market Champion, for their continued support of the Market and shared passion for promoting the businesses of local farmers and making fresh, nutritious food accessible to all in our community.
Just one month until Opening Day of the HLFM Wednesday Market at Crooked Hammock Brewery. Starting June 2nd, customers will find all of their Wednesday Market favorites and more as vendors offer produce, meats, eggs, baked goods, and flowers.
