The Cinema Art Theater is expanding its art programming! We are adding The Royal Ballet to our world-class arts on screen events, starting with the company’s newest production of Peter Wright’s Giselle!

The world turns upside down for the peasant girl Giselle when she discovers her lover Albrecht is actually a nobleman promised to another. In despair, she kills herself. Her spirit joins the Wilis, the vengeful ghosts of women who have been jilted and die before their wedding day. The Wilis are hell-bent on killing any man who crosses their path in a dance to the death. Wracked with guilt, Albrecht visits Giselle’s grave, where he must face the Wilis – and Giselle’s ghost. Will he survive?

What makes a dance a classic? Inspired by the willies of Slavic folklore, learn more about the enduring appeal of this romantic ballet and the prima ballerinas who have immortalized the role of Giselle in a post-film discussion with Janaea Rose Lyn, dance artist and educator.

Giselle will play at the CAT on Sunday, April 12, at 3:00pm and Wednesday, April 15, at 6:00pm. The Royal Ballet is presented by Fathom Entertainment.
